About The Bicycle Shack

JD is John Dyer, who formed JD’s Cycle Shack in 2007, out of his 2-car garage and a storage shed.  He’s been fixing his own bikes since he was a little kid.   Now that he is all grown up and has his own shop, he no longer ends up with too many pieces after putting his bikes back together.  He’s been an amateur mountain and road racer off and on for 15 years and loves wrenching on everything from fixies to full suspensions to full carbon everything.  JD has taken on some top notch employees as well, so that as the business grows, the turnaround time is still fast, and the quality of service remains the highest.  In the summer of 2011, the company’s name was changed to The Bicycle Shack LLC, partly to make it easier to spell and partly to cut down on the calls from motorcycle enthusiasts.

The Bicycle Shack finds really good deals on new and used components, frames, and bicycles, and passes those savings onto their customers.  With their powdercoat painting services, they can also turn a tired and scratched up frame into a glossy and bright thing of beauty that turns heads.  If you do want a brand new bike, The Bicycle Shack  is now an authorized dealer of Redline, Leader, WeThePeople, Torker, Origin8, Surly, and Voodoo, among many other house brands of J&B Importers, Quality Bicycle Parts, Bicycle Technologies Int’l, and Seattle Bike Supply

The mission of The Bicycle Shack is to put people on bikes they actually look forward to riding, and to service their existing bikes so that they operate safely and perfectly.

A significant portion of business for The Bicycle Shack has been from people looking to buy good used bikes, specially built for their needs and budget.  The Shack has become somewhat of a used bike boutique, where each customer gets one on one time for the fitting, the consultation, the test riding and basic education in bike handling and maintenance.  The rest of the business comes from the full service shop, retail sales of parts and bikes, accessories and tools (new and used),  and eBay sales.

The Bicycle Shack is also still one of the few bicycle shops that takes trade-ins of older bikes and actually buys bikes outright from its customers
